(Indianapolis, Ind.) Donors and supporters joined the HealthNet Foundation on November 30th, 2023 for a pre-construction tour of the future home of the HealthNet Clinical Annex and Vision Center in Indianapolis. A not-for-profit, HealthNet provides affordable primary health care and support services to more than 60,000 individuals in central Indiana.

Thanks to a $1.1 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and donor support, the west side of HealthNet’s Administration Building at 3403 E. Raymond St. will soon be transformed into a Clinical Annex to support HealthNet Barrington Health & Dental Center located next door. The 51-year-old community health center is one of HealthNet’s busiest health centers, providing primary care, pediatrics, OB/GYN, behavioral health, chiropractic care, dental care and support services for over 19,000 patients each year. The center outgrew its current space more than four years ago in response to growing community need.

The 7,970 sq. ft. annex will feature a full-service Vision Center for HealthNet patients as well as the community. It will offer comprehensive eye care, including an optical shop for glasses and contact lens fittings. The new Clinical Annex also will provide podiatry care at a time when wait times to see a podiatrist can take up to 3 months. In addition, the Annex will become the new home for HealthNet Barrington Health & Dental Center’s behavioral health and chiropractic care teams, freeing up offices to become additional exam rooms at the health center.

The Annex, designed by Halstead Architects and to be constructed by Mattingly Construction, is expected to increase access to care for more than 6,800 patients annually. Renovation is slated to begin in January and be completed by the second quarter of 2024.

The HealthNet Foundation hosts quarterly “Doctors & Donuts” events to provide donors and supporters with a behind-the-scenes look at the many innovative programs and initiatives underway at HealthNet designed to increase access to much-needed health services and improve community health.  For more information about future events and tours, contact HealthNet Foundation Donor Relations Coordinator Ashli McVey at 317.225.6241 or by email at Ashli.McVey@indyhealthnet.org.
